Association of Staff and Faculty Women sponsors 15th Annual Ballam Women’s Symposium: Women Leading Women
The 15th Annual Ballam Women’s Symposium theme is “Women Leading Women” with a focus on the role we as professional women have in being workplace allies for each other. Our speakers will address the challenges and solutions women experience as they seek to educate, energize and empower other women. The Symposium will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Ohio Union from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Association of Staff and Faculty Women of Ohio State University (ASFW), the Symposium will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions, build confidence, and create a road map to further your own vision and empower other women.
Our keynote speaker is Dr. Wendy Smooth, Ohio State’s Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, College of Arts and Sciences. In her role as Dean, Dr. Smooth oversees the coordination, promotion and advising on diversity and inclusion across the College of Arts and Sciences. The keynote topic is Defining & Maximizing Your Sphere of Influence: Building More Inclusive Work Spaces.
The round table lunch features facilitated conversations encouraging questions and discussions surrounding tips and best practices on a variety of topics, including program management, leadership, alumni relations, faculty development, operations and fiscal, human resources and more. Each attendee will select to be seated at a table in an area of interest to her.
Authenticity is the subject of the Symposium’s afternoon workshop. The program will be led by Chasity Kuttrus, an executive coach and owner of Executive Elements. Chasity regularly speaks on the topic of Authenticity. She demystifies this sometimes-confusing topic by defining the behaviors that can strengthen your authenticity. Her program will focus on cultivating “Your Presence,” “Your Story,” “Your Brand” and “Your Next.” This dynamic and interactive session includes strategies, exercises and homework to consider how we might enhance and elevate ourselves to be our best.
In addition to the presentations, the Ballam Symposium offers networking opportunities to mingle with other over 100 career women. This is a chance to focus on YOU, away from the office, as you meet other women from across the Ohio State campus. A light breakfast and lunch are included. Registration information is available on the ASFW website.
