Dr. Tanya Menon shared her research on how selective incivility indicates that people feel particularly empowered to direct disrespect towards women, minorities, and particularly female minorities. Over the years, the women she's worked with (junior/ senior, diverse ethnicities) have shared with her their experiences with these situations and their responses. She describes her own research in this area, and some recommendations to stand your ground in these situations.
Dr. Menon's presentation at TEDxOhioStateUniversity was also featured on ted.com.

Dr. Joyce Chen discussed her recent research on the gender pay gap at OSU, focusing on determinants of existing disparities and future directions for extending and enriching the analysis. She also discussed her own salary equity appeal and potential policy changes that may help reduce gender gaps in academic institutions.
